Frequently Asked Questions


Welcome and thank you for considering Pediatric Partners, LLC for the care of your family. This information sheet provides answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about the practice and our policies.


  • We see patients by appointment only. We do not accept walk-ins.
  • Office hours are Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 12:00pm and 2:00pm – 5:00pm.
  • Dr. McCorkle and Dr. Newman are board certified in pediatrics.
  • We have specific time slots for sick and well visits each day.
  • We have multiple doctors or nurse practitioners daily. If someone is called back before you, please remember they may be seeing someone else.
  • Our doctors are in a call group with local pediatrician Dr. Tammy Smith.
  • If you call our office outside of normal business hours, you will be connected to the hospital answering service and subsequently to the Pediatric Nurse Advice Line from 5:00 pm - 6:00 am Mon - Thurs & Fri 5:00 pm - Mon 6:00 am. A doctor can be paged if necessary.
  • If you have an emergency call 911 immediately.
  • Dr. Newman is off all day on Thursday and Dr. McCorkle is off on Wednesday afternoons.
  • Jessi Flynn, PNP is one of our full time Nurse Practitioners and she is off all day Monday.
  • Lauren Lariscy, PNP is one of our full time Nurse Practitioners and she is off all day Tuesday.
  • Liz Poe, PNP is a part time Nurse Practitioner, and she is in the office one to two days a week.
  • Kelly Posey, PNP is a part time Nurse Practitioner, and she is in the office on Monday and Tuesday.
  • We admit to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital.
  • We are required to update intake/information sheets each year even if you have no changes to your information. If you have any information change, a new intake must be completed.
  • We have a 15-minute grace period for sick/shot visits. If you are 15 or more minutes late for a sick visit you will be rescheduled later in the day based on availability. Well/consult visits do not have a grace period and will be rescheduled to another day with an appropriate well visit slot.
  • We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early for all well visits to allow for paperwork and insurance updates.
  • If three appointments are missed without prior notification to the office the family is subject to dismissal. PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE IF YOU CAN’T MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. A $50.00 “No Show” fee will apply for ALL missed appointments.
  • All nurse calls are entered into our computer system and handled the same day. A nurse will call you back between 12:00pm – 2:00pm or at 5:00pm.
  • We do not call-in prescriptions. No antibiotics are prescribed without being seen.
  • Maintenance prescription refills should be called into our office with a minimum of 48-hour notice. We recommend calling five business days in advance of running out in the event our physicians are out of the office.
  • We do immunize and we follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for pediatric immunizations.
  • Copies of medical records require 48 hours’ notice for preparation. The first set is complimentary. All subsequent sets are $25.00.
  • Shot forms are generally available the same day requested.
  • All co-pays and out of pocket amounts are due at time of service.
  • Statements for patient balances are sent out monthly.
  • Accounts reaching 90 days past due are automatically turned over for collection.
  • Accounts turned over for collection may result in dismissal from the practice.
  • We are happy to provide a monthly payment plan for large balances. For information on a payment plan, please contact our billing office.
  • Insurance cards must be available at each visit to insure we have the correct information to file claims and verify co-pay amounts. If insurance cards are not available for verification payment for the visit is due at time of service.
  • PLEASE READ YOUR INSURANCE HANDBOOK OR CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST VISIT WITH US!! You must be familiar with your policy and coverage limits. Some very important items to have answers for are as follows:
  1. What are your deductibles and yearly limits for individual and family?
  2. Do you have well coverage and what are the limits?
  3. Do you have vaccination coverage and what are the limits?
  4. We do not file secondary insurance. You will be billed for the remainder balance after your primary has paid at which time you can file to your secondary carrier. What will you need to file with your secondary carrier?
  5. Finally don’t forget to add your baby to your policy within 30 days of birth.
